Chromebooks

All students grades 3 through 12 will have a school Chromebook checked out to them. This will be their Chromebook that they will take with them from grade to grade until the Chromebook reaches its end of life. Chromebook Care

It is very important that these Chromebooks are treated with care. These Chromebooks are property of San Jacinto Valley Academy and they are sensitive machines. The screen is especially susceptible to damage. Make sure to not force a Chromebook into a backpack, or place it in a situation where a large amount of pressure is exerted on to it. Do not stack anything on top of the Chromebook, and do not leave it in a backpack out in the rain. You may place a small sticker with your name on the Chromebook to identify it, but please do not cover the Chromebook with stickers.

Please note: Intentional damage or damage caused by misuse of the Chromebook will result in potential fees that will need to be paid before another Chromebook is issued.

Please note: The cut off date to sign up for insurance is September 30th for existing students, or one month after start date for any new student that starts during the school year.

Fees incurred without insurance:

Students can report lost or damaged Chromebooks to their teacher, and can come down to the IT office between 7:45am and 8:30am, during lunch, or after school to report any issues. The cost associated with fixing issues is as follows:
Any physical damage that needs to be repaired: $50
Lost Chromebook: $200
For damages without insurance, please fill out the form here and have the student check in with IT during the designated times as stated above.

Chromebook Repair Procedure:

If a student has any issues with their Chromebook, they can come by room 36 before school, during lunch or after school. No matter the circumstance, students who report in to IT will leave with a working Chromebook. While the Chromebook is being repaired, a loaner Chromebook will be issued to the student. It is required that this loaner Chromebook remain free of stickers, otherwise additional repair fees will apply. Once the Chromebook is repaired the student will be emailed, and if in elementary, the teacher will be included. The student has 7 days to pick up their original Chromebook, otherwise their loaner will be locked down. It Is very important the student comes to pick up the Chromebook in room 36 before the 7 days expires, to remain able to complete their work.
