Cal Grant Awards are free money provided by the State of California to help pay for the cost of college. Students who meet academic, financial and eligibility requirements may qualify to receive a Cal Grant once they are in college. California Education Code section 69432.9 requires the school to notify all Juniors and their parent/guardian in writing that the pupil will be deemed a Cal Grant applicant unless the student has opted out prior to March 1, 2021.
