Ms. Petersen is a full time General Music, Musical Theater and Choir Teacher at SJVA.  She graduated from the University of Redlands with a Bachelor of Music in Music Education in 2016 and with a Masters in Conducting in 2019.  She came to SJVA directly from her undergraduate degree, and began working as a General Music Teacher for the elementary school as well as teaching a period of High School Choir.  Seeing an opportunity in the incredible administrative support for after school programs, she founded the Musical Theater Program during her first year as well as taking over several of the elementary level choirs.  For the past four years, she has had the immense joy of watching both programs grow into beautiful communities of students, parents and staff.  She sees enormous talent and potential in each student, and loves watching them rise above and beyond every challenge they are given.  She is absolutely thrilled to be a part of the SJVA family, and hopes to continue working with and getting to know as many incredible students as possible.  In addition to working at SJVA, Ms. Petersen currently serves as the Artistic Director of the Redlands Youth Choir, a community choir for children ages 4-16 that meets once a week in Redlands.
