Pathway Overview

Career Technical Education
San Jacinto Valley Academy currently offers high school an Career Technical Education – Transportation pathway in Film Production. The pathway consists of an introductory course: Introduction to Film Production, concentration course: Film Production 1, and a capstone course: Film Production 2.

Course Sequence
Introduction to Film Production: Open to students in 9th-12th grade and for those that may be interested in Film or unsure and want to explore the possibilities in a fun and engaging educational environment.

Film Production 1: Open to student in 10-12th grade. This course is for those students that have determine they are serious about pursuing a career in a film related field or have identified a legitimate reason for taking a more advance course in film.

Film Production 2: Open for students that have already taken Film Production 1. This course is designed to equip students with knowledge to be able to operate on a professional film set right after graduation.

High School Credit
This course meets the College Preparatory Elective “G” requirement for the University of California (UC) and California State University (CSU) system.

College and Career Preparedness
Completing the Film Production Pathway (Film Production 1 and Film Production 2) and one of the criteria below, a student will meet the criteria as Prepared for College and Career by the State of California.

  • Smarter Balanced Summative Score
    • Level 3 or higher on ELA and at least a Level 2 in mathematics or Level 3 or higher on mathematics and at least a level 2 in ELA
  • One semester / two quarters of Dual Enrollment with a grade of C- or better in academic/CTE subjects
  • Score of 3 on one AP exam or score of 4 on one IB Exam
