Genere Bending Mash-up Projects

Project Outcome:

Students will apply advanced Pro Tools techniques to produce a genre-bending mash-up that combines two songs from distinctly different styles or genres. The objective is to creatively blend and align contrasting pieces of popular music into a cohesive new composition.

The project consisted of:

• Choosing (2) unique popular songs
• Time Compression Expansion tools to conform audio
• Use tempo, grid and grid value to adjust vocals to music 
• Understand basic Music theory and timing and rhythm
• Understand Digital audio transients and shortcuts to achieve tight edits
• Submit screenshots and final audio file
