Film Production
The Film Production class is something brand new to SJVA. The focus of this class is to teach the fundamentals of filmmaking in all phases, pre-production, production, and postproduction. The skills that're being taught in this class will enable our students to get right into the field after high school with confidence, without having to go to film school.
Intro to Film Production
Intro to Film Production will be used to spark interest, and build a foundation for our students to build on. They will learn about all essential equipment, the vast majority of different jobs on set, and the basics of photography to ensure they understand composition.
Film Production 1
This class will be aimed towards the students who have completed Intro to Film Production, and have a real interest in this program. Now that they have basic knowledge of equipment and photo composition, we will build on that and start to explore the "storytelling" side of film. Things such as lighting, camera movement, and shot types all factor into storytelling, and that will be the focal point.
Film Production 2
Students that have reached this stage have shown real interest in following this career path, and demonstrate the skills needed to execute certain jobs on set. The focus of this class is to tie all phases of filmmaking together. Students will be able to prep, and execute a full scene without the help of an instructor. To cap off the year, the film production 2 class will create a short film that will be submitted to various film festivals.
