Profile

San Jacinto Valley Academy (SJVA), a public, WASC accredited, tuition-free charter school, serves transitional kindergarten through twelfth grade students in the San Jacinto Valley and surrounding areas.  Our mascot, the wolf, exemplifies loyalty, intelligence and a strong sense of family.  SJVA’s Wolfpack, consisting of administrators, deans, educators, counselors, scholars and parents, is united in cultivating scholars and scholar-athletes of the highest caliber.  All Wolfpack members are important in developing curriculum, clubs, extracurriculars, athletic teams, standards of citizenship, social-emotional development and camaraderie.  SJVA recognizes a primary indicator of student success is family participation and support, and we encourage family involvement on every level.

SJVA set the gold standard for education in the San Jacinto Valley by becoming the  first and only International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (PYP), serving  kinder-fifth grades, and the  first International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme World School (IB) high school. SJVA also provides a complete Academy of Visual Performing Arts and Academy of Aviation.

SJVA is committed to producing individuals who are effective communicators, effective users of technology, self motivated lifelong learners, and contributing members of society.  Our fully credentialed teachers and inquiry-based instruction challenges scholars to achieve their highest potential.

SJVA is the San Jacinto Valley’s leader and innovator in education since 1997. It’s a school with heart, high expectations, innovation and a commitment to the success of each student.

Kindergarten Site

SJVA's Primary Years Programme (PYP), sets the pace for an academic career filled with high standards and global collaboration. Our kinder campus,  Kinderland, fosters a love of learning in a space dedicated to meeting the developmental needs of our youngest scholars. Kinderland offers engaging educational experiences, including daily one-on-one reading with adults as part of our reading (language arts?) program. Students enjoy daily Spanish lessons and weekly special electives, including music, inquiry room, and outdoor exploration. They learn about science and responsibility by caring for our chickens and two goats, Pickles and Daisy. Our students' achievement is continuously celebrated.  Kinderland also offers Transitional Kindergarten as a bridge between preschool and Kindergarten.

Elementary School

Our elementary students enjoy engaging inquiry-based lessons beyond our core subject areas (reading, writing, arithmetic). SJVA’s PYP provides young scholars with cutting edge, global learning opportunities, exciting and energizing their young minds for a world of possibilities. Free music lessons, musical theater, off campus field studies, foreign languages, and service clubs are part of the extensive elementary experience. SJVA utilizes every opportunity to celebrate and honor our scholars and families, including monthly awards assemblies.

Middle School

Our goal in middle school is to help our students implement strategies for growth and improvement. SJVA staff supports students through these important transition years by guiding each student individually and intentionally.  Students have an opportunity to choose their pathway in honors courses, foreign language, and electives such as band, choir, common core  (coding, robotics, aviation, drama), and competitive athletic teams. During these years students learn to manage passing periods, understand the rhythms and rise to expectations of different teachers, and gain understanding of the importance of being self-starters and life-long learners.

SJVA graduates are awarded prestigious scholarships such as the Gate Millennium Scholarship, Quest Bridge Scholarship, and many others.  Our  graduates continue their education at colleges, universities, and academies across the country.

Athletics

SJVA realizes the importance athletics play in developing  well-rounded scholars.  Therefore, beginning with middle school, the academic requirement to participate is superior to that of CIF. In order for students to be eligible, they must maintain a 2.20 or higher GPA  and have a C- or better grade in all of their classes.

Since 2008, SJVA’s High School sports teams earned 21 league championships in Track, Football, Volleyball, Basketball, Soccer, Golf, Baseball, and Softball. Most recently, the Girls Basketball team was  Runner-Up in both the CIF Southern Section Basketball Tournament and California’s Southern Section State Basketball Tournament.  Many of SJVA’s scholar athletes earn league MVP  and All CIF First Team honors and move on to play sports at colleges and universities across the country.

Since 2014, SJVA’s Middle School sports program has won a total of 17 league championships in Softball, Volleyball, Basketball, Soccer, and Flag Football.
